Hardcore downhill mountain bike racers make up the backbone of this sport. These are the guys and girls that week after week spend their time not only driving up and down the country to the next race venue, but often pack their entire kit onto airplanes and head off to races in other countries!

You can almost defintiely find a race pretty much every weekend between march and September and probably still more during the winter months too.Some riders are in it for fun and others for the points and glory. As the sport gains momentum and popularity, people show up in droves to watch the sometimes unbelievable courses that the hardcore rider will tackle. Take the Redbull Rampage, held in Utah, the scenery is mind boggling and some of the jumps are so radical and so dangerous it would seem they were impossible to take. This is the ultimate freeride mountain bike challenge.

The hardcore racer will take plane, train and automobile to get to an event as extreme as this, in such an incredible part of the planet. Prepared to sleep on car backseats and in filthy tents, not so long ago the hardcore racer had to search hard to find a race! Now it is just a matter of how far to the next race which usually has no shortage of entrants. Regular national and regional downhill series and enduro and small local events abound and there is no lack of the downhill rush available to the hardcore downhill racer dude or dudette every weekend! Bring it on.
