Restoring a file from a hard drive backup is as easy as copying from one drive to another, without having to use difficult software or swapping of tapes. Do yourself a favor and replace your backup tape library with a quality hard drive.

Data backup tapes can often be an unreliable method of data backup compared to hard drives. Backup tapes are much more vulnerable to any magnetic fields depending on where they are stored, and are physically fragile. When it comes to a data recovery concern, hard drives are much easier and more common to be able to extract data from if there is a physical issue or problem with the hard drive itself. Switching to physical hard drives is just simply a better backup method than tape backup.
