Different Kind Of Delivering Funny Jokes These Days
I have this friend just met him a few months a go who loves to tell jokes. But the thing is, since he's a Fil-Am, he got used to the jokes in the US which is sometimes sarcastic. There was this one time when he was actually telling a joke that I was able to get it right away (I like watching American funny shows such as "Friends" so, that's why I got to know what made my friend's joke funny), but then some of our friends were like..."I don't get it", after delivering the punch line, and some of them had this awkward laugh which I know they were just being polite. My friend understands the fact that they don't get him sometimes because he knows as well that Filipino jokes are different.
That's the thing about being Filipino. Their joke is more into making fun of others, and we tell it straight as our punch line. Like when you go to a comedy bar, most of the comedians are gay because they like to make fun of people and they are so good in doing that. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against gay. In fact, I'm pro-gay (not that I'm one of them...I'm straight and love women). I think gay people are funny and in a way, they bring good things in this world. One, since laughter is the best medicine, I consider them as medication to the society. Two, they bring solution in a country that has population crisis like India, China, and even here in the Philippines (well, they're almost there realistically speaking).
However, American jokes are like I said, more about being sarcastic. Yes, I do have to admit; sometimes it's not really that funny but don’t get me wrong again I like American jokes. They are more into smart humor that's why some people do not find it that funny. But then some of the comedians in the US are funny. If you will watch "The Last Comic Standing", you will pee your pants for laughing out so loud. I am more into American jokes actually; I like it when they are being sarcastic. Like in the show "Friends", my favorite character is Chandler Bing. He's so funny delivering his punch line because he is so good being sarcastic to his friends.
I think people would agree to me when I say that the only thing that we should not make a joke at or make fun of is religion. It would be an insult to the people who even dare try to make fun of their religion. Everything else is okay like politics, terrorist, celebrities, and even race (you just have to be good or be careful in delivering it). One thing that I don't like though is when someone is making fun of others; they find it very insulting, that they wish that person would just die. But when it is them who are making fun of the people, they don't even care. Guys, come on. By the end of the day, it was just a joke. Can't we just all get along people?
