Different Viewpoints Of Dems And Republicans

Did you know that the phrase political left originated in Italy during the French revolution? After the King and Queen were executed, France became a republic. The phrases left and right arose from the seating in the modern parliament. They are even now used when talking over politics today although they are quite simplistic given our complicated political landscape.If you describe someone as being on the political left that person is considered as being more liberal in their opinions. A conservative would be described as being on the political right. Republicans that are likely to be more conservative in their views are right wing while the Dems are traditionally on the left side of the political arena.

As is generally the case with human beings, it just isn't that easy. Even within people who support the Democrats there will be some who will be very liberal in their views and what they consider best policy. As an example you may have a few Democrats who think that abortion is wrong so would follow a typical right wing viewpoint on that issue. Or you may have other Liberals who think that the war in Afghanistan is just and so shelling out on defense need to increase whereas the Dems usually advocate less spending on army.

In national politics, just like other things, there are always the extremes. You could have two people who are both deemed for being on the political left, yet they hold radically different opinions on various topics. These different viewpoints are what makes political meetings so interesting and the study of politics so absorbing as well as complicated.

Barack Obama is a Democrat so would be referred to as being on the political left. Typically his party would support issues like legalizingsame sex marriages and allowing doctor aided suicide. The conservatives would seem to take a more religious point of view being pro life, anti same sex marriages and want to introduce even more religion in schools.
