Different Types Of Lawn Mowers

Lawn mowers are available in two basic types namely push mowers and riding mowers. Push mowers can be operated manually using gas or electricity. Whereas reel type Push mowers do not need any gas or electric power for its functioning, rather they just need to be pushed over the lawn. In the early days, reel type lawn mowers did not use any power resource and so they were considered much eco-friendly. Also they were very heavy to push. Some push mowers require both gas and electricity. In such cases people who used the gas powered mowers found it quite difficult in maintaining and fueling them. Some people were attracted by its demanding power.

Push lawn mowers nowadays come with many different features such as self-propelled, mulching or bagging. The self-propelled mower keeps moving forward to clean up the lawn. Mulching lawn mowers mulches the grasses that are cut down and pushes them out of the lawn. Bagging or catching mowers collect the clippings from the lawn and stores them in a container or a bag. Most of the push mowers nowadays come with both the options.

The rotary lawn mowers cut the grass when it comes in contact with the reel blades used in these types of mowers. These blades usually rotate horizontally to cut the grass and so they are very useful for mowing uneven areas in the lawn. In these models the gap between the grass and the blade can also be adjusted making the process very easy.

Cylinder lawn mowers have a spiral blade enclosed around a cylinder. These help in cutting the grass like a scissor does. When you use these types of mowers you can get an orderly cut in the grass. In hover lawn mowers, the blades are not mounted on wheels. Instead they run on the force of air generated by the rotating blades. This helps in cleaning up nook and corners and is good for uneven areas.

Riding lawn mowers also known as lawn tractors as the name brings forth, can be operated by riding. They are used for mowing large yards and lawns. Some riding lawn mowers are built with a hitch that is usually like a handle. This hitch helps you to attach a cart or a spreader to your mower, so that you can do more than just mowing. Most of the riding lawn mowers can be operated by sitting onto it. There are also models where you can stand and operate these mowers. These models are great for mowing large lawn areas and so they are very easy for transport. And that is why government and professional lawn services use these mowers very frequently.
