I think that most people would be surprised if they knew how many different types and brands there are of camping chairs. A product that receives just about no publicity at all will not be expected to have such a broad selection that people can choose from. Of course, there is a reason for it. Not every camping chair is suited for every situation. People also have different needs when they go camping. Therefore the manufacturers have created different types of chairs. Usually we split the chairs in to three categories. In this article I have chosen to call them minimal, regular and luxurious.
- Minimal
This category contains the most basic and stripped types of chairs. The most known member of this family is the so called camping stool. Basically it is something to sit on, nothing more. You might find some of them with a hint of padding, but there is not much to brag about. The reason that people buy these chairs is that they are super light and super small. They can be brought along on very hard and demanding trips where weight is essential.
- Regular
This category contains the chairs that most people think of when thinking of a camping chair. They are usually pretty good to sit in and have all the basic things that define a chair. The padding is usually not the best, but it is there. When comparing to a camping stool, the biggest difference is that these actually have a back. As you can imagine, they are not as easy to bring on long trips, but they perform excellent for shorter trips.
- Luxurious
This is where the big guns live. You have probably seen a few of these besides the biggest RV’s. You would not even think about bringing these bad boys to long walks, in fact you would not want to bring these if you do any walking at all. They are purely made to be enjoyed beside the road or in your own garden. They come with a lot of accessories like drink holder, built in table, foot rest and a lot more.
