Discover Why Small Fish Oil Is Better!

What if I told you small fish oil, or oils that come from the smallest species, are less likely to be contaminated with mercury? Mercury is one of the environmental toxins that bio-accumulates. As we move up the food chain, we find higher and higher levels in tissues and organs.

Mercury is difficult to get rid of. It stays in and builds up in the organs of the body, unless chelation therapy is used to break it down and help the body get rid of it. Some of the better multi-nutritional supplements contain chelating agents, such as lipoic acid and resveratrol, because exposure to small amounts of mercury is practically unavoidable.

Most people find it interesting that the effect that mercury has in the brain is practically the opposite of the effect found with Docosahexaenoic acid or DHA. DHA is the primary nutrient found in small fish oil. At least, it is the nutrient that is largely missing from the average person’s diet.

The only food source of DHA is fatty or oily seafood. Salmon, anchovies and sardines are examples of good sources of DHA. Because seafood is not a major component of the average person’s diet, at least in the US, and because people have been told to avoid mercury-laden species, most people do not get enough of the essential fatty acid.

Many researchers believe that lack of DHA in the diet is largely to blame for the high incidence of depression that is seen in the US and some other countries. Some researchers say that a lack of dietary omega-3s, in general, is one of the preventable causes of death.

With proper diet, exercise and some good nutritional supplements, we may be able to avoid many of the diseases that have plagued previous generations. Small fish oil is one of the most important nutritional supplements that a person can take, judging from all of the health benefits that have been associated with supplementation.

Supplements cannot take the place of proper diet and regular physical activity. No one is saying that. But, even with the best diet, there are bound to be some missing pieces.

Think of dietary supplements as insurance. You are insuring that you daily intake of essential nutrients is adequate or better than adequate.

Some natural health experts say that if we only meet our minimum daily requirements for nutrients, we will only enjoy minimally good health. If we want optimal health, we need optimal nutrient intake.

Taking 2000-3000mg of small fish oil every day will help you reach those optimal intakes. Some studies have shown that just one gram per day lowered the occurrence of death from heart attack and other causes by as much as 45%.

In conclusion, there are many benefits of supplementation; too many to fully cover in an article of this length. It might be sufficient just to say that the supplements are good for you. So, find and take some small fish oil every day. You’ll be glad that you did in years to come.
