Distortion could be defined as a misinterpretation of reality. A sort of re-adjustment occurs consequently to a keen sensorial filtering of the incoming information. In essence, the distortion process is governed by a dynamic imaginative activity altering significantly real life parameters.

Negative distortion of truth is a manifestation of emotionally insecure people who have developed a pessimistic vision of life. They adjust a common reality to their inner projection because they cannot cope with anxiety and are extremely vulnerable. Further consequences might affect severely the mental health of people facing reality distortion problems.

Due to a normal subjective approach of a certain issue many individuals might overreact from time to time. Such isolated events are basically explained as tendencies to draw attention, to achieve easily something, whereas uncontrolled and constant reactions distorting reality should be taken for an alarming signal.
