Do You Need To Improve Your Own Vocab.? Get All Of The Help You Will Need!

There are many reasons to try to learn more words...Perhaps you've found yourself in a writing position, or maybe you'd like to Wow a professor with your expansive knowledge. However, you need some sort of plan of attack, otherwise you'll find yourself just reading a dictionary in an effort to find interesting words, inevitably a fruitless endeavor, it's just TOO boring.

But I suppose you're not here to learn about what you shouldn't do, you're probably right about ready to learn what I did to absorb more of the English language.

First, start reading books! This is the easiest, most enjoyable, and most guaranteed way to increase your vocabulary. A tip to help you maximize how many words you learn is to keep a notebook next to you while you read. What you could do is write down any words you don't know as you read. It probably goes without saying, but I should tell you that to learn the most words means reading harder books.

Another thing you can do is go to Dictionary.com and subscribe to their newsletter to start receiving their word of the day. This will expose you to new words in a way that you probably would never be able to otherwise find, as the folks over at Dictionary.com tend to have some pretty fancy vocabulary. As you might guess.

Here's my final tip for you - Use the words that you learn! This is the only way I've found to guarantee that I'll hold onto those precious words I learn. With the Word of the Day newsletter for example, you might try and use the daily word at least 3 times through out the day. Obviously, this way you're going to be pretty much guaranteed to learn at least 365 words/year.

Which sounds like maybe not a lot, but it actually is.

Won't it be worth learning 1 word a day and some patience to have a bigger vocabulary than your lawyer?
