Do You Want To Get Better? Do You Know How To Get Better?
Life is a lot like one of these - stuff comes at us hard and fast. We are bombarded with everything from over-due bills to dreaded diseases, from simple problems to serious situations, from the mundane daily stuff to the once-in-a-lifetime event. Of course, we are also soaked with blessings every day, even when we don't recognize them or sometimes the fast-moving hard balls are way more than we can deal with and still feel blessed. Make no mistake about it - everybody, absolutely everybody, needs help at one time or another. There's no way around it and no shame in it. We humans aren't made to be perfect - to know how to do, handle, or fix everything that life throws at us. That's when it's time to call the attendant to slow down the pitching machine or even to turn it off completely. These are the moments when the pitcher is in over-drive, the cage is locked, and you don't even have time to swing and you feel like just sitting down and letting the balls land wherever they will. This is when we need bigger and better bats, stronger helmets and body protectors, advice and lessons on how to hit the balls away or at least to dodge them and kick them out of the cage. There are so many ways to get this kind of help these days. First and foremost would be to seek professional help – one-on-one – talk it out, get advice, and keep in touch with someone who is trained to help with serious life issues. There are also books, tapes, workbooks, and all kinds of helping hands on the internet. Websites abound and there are some high quality products out there. Don’t hesitate to check some of them out – but be careful what you buy. Some of these guys are highly qualified to write what they write, but some are charlatans. So check their pedigree – their degrees and other published works – be sure you’re not buying a “pig-in-a-poke.” Whatever you do, do something! Feeling bad, being depressed, down-and-out, or just plain rotten are not natural states of mind – they are sure-fire signs that something is wrong somewhere in your life – and they should not be ignored or passed off as “a phase.” Dig deep and find out what is really ailing you and find help!!
