Recently a friend asked me if I know about Google Caffeine and coffee beans are what immediately come into my empty mind. Out of curiosity I did some research and found out that it is going to be a newer version of Google search engine. As a consumer, this is a welcoming move since it is said to be an upgraded version of the current search engine.
Currently Google Caffeine is under development. However, prior to its official release, users are invited to have a test drive of the beta version. My own personal experience in searching using the beta search engine as compared to the standard version did not yield very much difference. However, there are two things that are obvious – the speed and the accuracy.
Firstly if you want to see the difference in speed, try to search for common words (one word is enough). When you get the search result, compare the time needed to complete the search using the newer (beta) version and the standard version. You will notice the difference. My own test shows that the beta version performs faster compared to the standard version.
Next, I compared the search result for accuracy of the search performed by both search engines. I found that fewer ‘less-related’ results are listed when I use the beta version. ‘Less-related’ results are often interpreted as a blended search options in the standard Google search.
While these findings may bring the ease of mind to general users, things can be worrisome for other users. Since keywords are interpreted in different ways, this may affect the visibility and the page rank when certain keywords are used. Therefore, Bloggers need to optimize their blogs and websites according to the new heuristics. Luckily Google lets everybody has a taste of its new Caffeine before it is launched. Good luck everyone!
