But, he says, you used to be able to tell the temperament of a dog from the breed, now you can't. What he attributes this to is less quality in breeding.

He calls dog breeders cranks if they are the ones who get together and decide on changing breed standards. People should be responsible enough not to change standards without knowing the results, he said. Considering how prize dogs can be named the best in the breed, emphasis is being put on how they should first pass several tests. That way you would know you weren't giving a prize to zombie.
