I wanted to talk to you about the doll collecting practices that you're going to have to learn if you plan to get involved in this hobby. Dolls might not seem like that big of a deal, but this is a serious thing. Just like collecting comics or baseball cards might seem trivial, there is a lot of money involved in these groups and people can actually get quite fanatical. Arming yourself with knowledge is incredibly important if you expect to properly get involved with any form of doll collecting. I'm going to show you exactly what you need to know.

I think the first thing you have to understand is that you'll find rip off artists and snake oil salesman in this type of trade, just like you'll find it everywhere. People are going to try to sell you dolls and this is something you're going to have to do. Finding the more rare types is going to require you to bargain and trade. The problem is that people will try to rip you off by quoting too much or selling you some cheap knock off worth nothing. Know your dolls and know the value of them.

Another practice you should start doing is going to yard sales every weekend to see what you can find. The good news about these types of places is that the people selling aren't doll collectors. They don't know anything and frankly they just want to get rid of things they consider garbage. That's where you can get really cheap buys for expensive dolls.
