Don't Buy A Hula Hoop From A Toy Store!

Have you seen all the hula hoopin’ going on lately? I’ve noticed it too. Hula hooping is taking over city by city- East coast to West! It not a bad thing either, that’s for sure! Hula hoops are a fun activity to keep you smiling, in shape and healthy! Have you ever tried to hula hoop without smiling? It’s nearly impossible! And once you pick up a hula hoop, everyone around you wants to try too! Maybe that’s why it’s spreading so quickly!

A common mistake is buying your hula hoop from a toy store. These hoops that you find at K-mart, Wal-mart (pretty much any ‘mart’) aren’t going to do you any good. They’re really small, light weight and really speedy. If you’re convinced you can’t hula hoop, and you’ve tried, it was most likely the hula hoop! Don’t be discouraged! The small and light hoops are really fast and frustrating to work with, they’re constantly falling to the ground and you’re always reaching down to pick it up again. So, you want a hoop huh, now what to do, where to find one?

You need a bigger hoop! I always suggest a hoop that reaches your belly button as a good starting point for new hoopers. Search in your area for someone who makes custom hula hoops or make your own! All you need is irrigation tubing, a coupling, and some fun colored electrical tape! There are many tutorials online to show you how this is done, it’s fairly simple! But whatever you do, don’t buy a hula hoop from a toy store, you will only be frustrated!
