Doomsday 2012: Is It The End Of The World?
New Age supporters say that during this time, the world may experience a spiritual transformation, and thus interpret 2012 predictions as the establishment, not the end, of a new era. Meanwhile, others say that this date marks the end of the world based on the Book of Revelations. End of the world scenarios include Earth’s impact with a passing planet, Planet X, or black hole, or the emergence of the next solar maximum. Some people even created 2012 official countdown, in anticipation of what will happen to the planet that day. The Mayan Calendar was constructed around 250-900 AD by an highly developed civilization called the Mayans. They were considered sophisticated because they exhibited superior written, construction, and urban planning skills. Mayans are also famous for their pyramids and elaborate buildings. The Mayans also used many calendars and viewed time as spiritual cycles. The calendars that they used were short, combined each of their calendars, and created the 5,125 years Mayan Long calendar. Is there a correlation between the end of their calendar and the end of the world? According to scientists, there is not enough bases that something bad, or Doomsday, would occur when the long calendar runs out of date. An additional prediction about December 21, 2012 is the coronal mass ejection from the sun. In 1859, the same catastrophe happened, when a solar storm occurred, which brought about failures in the telegraph systems in North America and Europe. The same incident is predicted to occur in the year 2012, along with huge massive power blackouts and destruction of satellites. Explosion from the black hole is another possibility that is expected to occur. Accordingly, such incident will bring about cosmic ray waves that can cause massive destructive tsunamis in the planet. Will the world end on Doomsday? When something ends, many people assume the radical possibilities of ending. Contrary to what many say, the Mayans actually predicted an enlightenment happening when 2012 comes. The tie between global catastrophe, Aztec end of the world, and Mayan calendar-based prophecy is largely fiction. There was no mention of Armageddon in any Mayan literature. The idea of a cataclysm happening in 2012 has been dismissed by scholars from various disciplines since no predictions are found in classic Maya accounts or in astronomy. NASA meanwhile has compared 2012 anxiety to the Y2K bug in the late 1990s. The Armageddon 2012 prophecy has been talked about for decades. There are two sides of the coin- one says there will be global destruction, while the other says there will be enlightenment. The people may never know if Armageddon is for real until such time that the day occurs.
