Drink Your Way To A Better Skin

We all want to have the kind of soft, smooth skins free of blemishes that we seem to see on movie stars and models. Many of us spend hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars on the pursuit of the perfect skin. We take time out of our busy schedules to spend time pampering and nourishing our skin so that we will look better and feel healthier.

There is no doubt about it that a healthy, ‘good’ skin is certainly more comfortable than one that is dry and chafed, or spotted with acne. But is there any way to achieve a better skin than by rubbing on creams or having other more expensive treatments? There is good news for those that believe healthy skin is a matter of genes or dollars; in a word, water.

The easiest way to treat your skin is simply by drinking more water, more often. Drinking water will not only flush toxins out of the body, but also help your blood to transport essential nutrients around your body. Better still, drinking water has no nasty side effects like some of those other treatments have. Do you really want your body zapped by a laser, smeared by chemicals that will peel it, or injected with toxic botulism, all in the quest for a better skin?

Drinking water is the gentle way that nature provided us with to cleanse the skin of those things that make it look less than perfect. While some experts tell us that drinking eight glasses of water a day is the ideal, this might depend on the kind of climate you live in. Perhaps eight glasses is not necessary in a cold climate, especially if you are not doing anything to make you perspire excessively.

However drinking eight glasses of water a day is not that hard if you break it up. Four in the morning and four in the afternoon is a do-able goal. When you think of it, you probably drink around six glasses or cups a day of other liquid anyway, so replacing these with plain water makes the goal of eight a day quite easy.

If your tap water doesn’t taste all that wonderful, then buy a filtering system of some kind - or use bottled water. You’ll be surprised at the difference in taste - which of course will make it easier to drink more. Once you’ve tried drinking water that tastes good, it will not be a problem to drink all you should, and you’ll soon see the good effect it has on your skin.
