Epic Claims See Major Growth In Medical Negligence Market

Despite one piece of academic research suggesting that up to 27% of those receiving medical interventions were victims of medical negligence, the medical negligence claims industry has remained relatively small. EPIC Claims principal Steven Jameson states this is down to “watertight defences on behalf of the National Health Service.” However, Jameson states that the claims culture has reached the UK’s National Health Service and in 1996 £150m was paid out in compensation.

EPIC claims have spotted the growth in successful claims and has decided to extend its personal injury compensation practice to include medical negligence. In an unprecedented, aggressive and bold move EPIC Claims have recruited seven of the most talented medical negligence solicitors in the UK to expand their practice.

Jameson asserts “the moves made by us are in line with the future of this industry. We see this market growing exponentially in the future and need to transfer our reputation as the forerunners in the compensation world.”

Moves like this are uncharacteristic of the legal world where standing still is considered progressive. Personal Injury Claims, however, aren’t representative of the legal world in its entirety. With regular television advertising and celebrity sponsorship, the claims industry is telling us that they mean business and are dedicated to delivering justice to all those who need it.

Peter Miles, marketing director of EPIC Claims, suggests this business model was inherited from the USA – “the USA are the original claims masters and we are just following suit. The injured public like what they do over there and so we emulate it here.”

The aggressive nature of the move by EPIC Claims rings of the USA and if the industry leaders are anything to go by, expansion of this type is what lies ahead.
