The taste of Thai food is famous not only in Thailand but in other parts of the world too. Thai cuisine actually reflects the land and waters where the Thai people have traditionally been lived. The usuage of seasonings, spices and the manner of eating are all reflected in the nature of Thai people.

Thai cuisine is very much influenced by it's neighbouring countries like China, Malaysia and India. Thai foods are very rich and spicy. But you can also find the taste of sweetness, sourness or even bitterness in many Thai dishes. Lemongrass is the most important ingredient of Thai foods. The other common ingredients of Thai cuisine are basil, mint or cilantro.

Chicken Basil:

Chicken basil, also known as gai pad gra pow is quite easy to make and is one of the classics of Thai food. The major ingredients required to make chicken basil includes 2tbsp oil, 4-1 thai chili pepper, 1 tbsp sugar, 1-2 packages holy basil, 1/2lb ground chicken, 1 tbsp minced garlic, as well as 3 tbsp fish sauce.

Cooking directions:

Mince the chili pepper and garlic together. Clean and pick gra-pow leaves. These leaves will give you a wonderful flavor. Heat the oil and fry garlic and chili pepper. Add the ground chicken when the garlic turns golden brown and stir them well. Keep stirring until all the juice is gone. Put fish sauce and sugar. Add the basil leaves to be mixed with the meat and remove from the heat. You can put the gai pad gra pow leaves on the side of serving plate and serve with chicken. Enjoy with rice.

Bamboo Shoot Yum Recipe:

The ingredients required are 2 tbsp toasted rice, 1/2 lime, 1 tsp ground dried chili pepper, 2 green onion, 1 tsp fish sauce plus 1/2 bottle bamboo shoots.

For this dish, the bamboo shoots come in a bottle. These shoots are partially shredded. You need to boil the shredded shoots in water.

Add sliced onion, fish sauce, ground dried chili pepper, lime juice and half of ground toasted rice. Mix them properly and place on a serving plate. You can sprinkle the remaining half of ground toasted rice. If you want more spicy taste, you can add more chili pepper. Serve the dish with rice.

If you are vegetarian, then instead of fish sauce, you can use soy sauce.
