Eat Fruit & Feel Fit As A Fiddle

Feeling tired? Lethargic? Run down?

Many of us don't give our health a second thought until we lose it. But if you're feeling under the weather and out of energy, take a look at your diet.

If it's true that you are what you eat, then it makes sense to give your body the types of food that will nourish and sustain it. And when it comes to nourishment, you can't get better than fruit.

Here are ten everyday fruits that will help restore your energy and balance your system:

1. Apples - a rich source of Vitamin C and a natural pain inhibitor. Great for fighting migraine.

2. Avocado - full of Vitamin E and cholesterol-lowering monounsaturated fat. Contains lutein which protects the eyes and glutathione which staves off mouth cancer.

3. Blueberries - one of the Super foods, bursting with antioxidants that mop up cancer-causing free radicals. Also a brilliant memory booster.

4. Cranberries - more than a Christmas side dish. Antioxidant rich to reduce the risk of cystitis, and a natural barrier to prevent plaque forming on the teeth.

5. Grapes - another free radical fighter, also useful for battling heart disease.

6. Kiwi fruit - contains Vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and copper. Cures constipation, lowers cholesterol and fights cancer.

7. Prunes - good for regulating bowel movements but also packed with antioxidants.

8. Raspberries - an excellent source of Vitamin C and fibre, renowned for preventing cancer of the breast and cervix.

9. Strawberries - high in folic acid and therefore recommended for mothers-to-be. Rich in Vitamin C and can reduce the effects of benzopyrene found in tobacco.
