Eco-friendly Interior Decoration

There are a great many ways in which you can help the planet and your health while decorating the interior of your home. Choosing natural products over man-made products is one way. Of course, even natural products have been made by man, but at least the product used is from a renewable source and the making of it has not caused undue toxicity to the environment. These natural products are pure cotton and linen for drapes, wall hangings and bed linen, with carpets and sofa coverings made from pure wool.

Using live plants rather than artificial ones will help to purify the air you breathe, so go for lilies, rubber plants, ivy and ferns for your indoor decoration. Solid wood products are far stronger and less likely to emit toxic fumes than the kind of particleboards that have been made with glue containing formaldehyde. Using recycled timber for parts of your home can also save the environment. Recycled wood is often stronger and more durable than new timber.

Painting your home with non-toxic paint is one of the biggest saves in health and for the environment. Most major paint companies now manufacture paint that has zero or low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions. It's not hard to have eco-friendly interior decoration. All it requires is a bit of thought.
