Edible Iphone” Available In Japanese Bakery

Japanese bakery Green Gables has out a delightful addition to their menu: a cookie replica of the popular luxury gadget iPhone. The Tokushima-based bake shop scored a hit when it launched the cookie which also contains colourful edible representations of the smartphone’s icons.

What started out as a birthday treat for a customer’s husband began garnering the attention of the blogosphere, especially after famous personalities such as economic writer Kazuyo Katsuma and pop singer Komi Hirose posted pictures of the cookie via Twitter. What followed was an unprecedented success through word-of-mouth and it has surprised even the bakery’s owner Kumiko Kodo. It became so popular that Kodo was invited to present the iCookie to the president of Softbank, the company which exclusively carries the luxury gadgets iPhone and iPad in Japan.

Since its cult success, people wanting to grab a taste of the iCookie must wait at least two months to get their hands on it. It is only specially made for those who order from inside Japan. Just like the luxury gadget it was modelled after, the iCookie has a pretty steep price tag of 2,730 yen or $33.
