Effective Back Pain Remedies For Runners

Many physicians will tell you that the body is not designed for lengthy runs. You will likely meet certain men and women who have damaged their knees because they have spent many years jogging. Even though running is a popular form of exercise, it can be dangerous if it is not performed correctly. Jogging has a reputation for causing a variety of injuries including back pain. Running long distances can be one of the causes of lower back pain, but running can reduce back pain if the exercise is performed correctly.

It may be hard to believe that jogging is an effective back pain remedy, especially if walking or running worsens your back pain. Like many other exercises, jogging can be an effective way to improve back problems. Follow the steps outlined below to find out how to improve back pain while continuing to jog.

1) Stretching. Pulled muscles are one of the major causes of lower back pain. Stretching is one of the best back pain remedies. It is important that you take time to warm up the muscles and stretch properly before jogging. Stretching keeps the body flexible and helps to prevent injuries.

2) Rolling your feet. Some joggers hit the ground too hard as they run. This puts excessive pressure on their joints and can damage their knees, ankles and feet. When runners land the wrong way it can cause trauma to the body and it is one of the causes of lower back pain. You should be aware of your running stride and focus on landing with a rolling foot rather than a stomping foot.

3) Maintain good posture. Correct posture is not just a remainder of the Victorian era; it teaches the body and spine to properly align itself. You should avoid slouching and try your best to walk with poise. Proper posture is one of the best back pain remedies and it is important for runners to have good posture. Aside from pain, proper posture makes exercising an easier task and helps the body to feel balanced.

4) Strengthen your core. A body that is not in balance is one of the common causes of lower back pain, so while strengthening back muscles make sure that you also increase abdominal muscles. A strong stomach supports the body during runs and helps you to maintain good posture during workouts.

5) Spend time relaxing. Tense body muscles increase the impact of running. To keep your muscles from becoming too tight, you should practice good posture without tensing up your body. If you find this difficult then practice deep breathing exercises during your stretching sessions. Focused meditation can force muscles to relax.

6) Wear correct footwear. High quality jogging shoes are expensive because they offer the greatest amount of support. They offer plenty of padding that protects the feet during workouts. You should make sure that the shoes you select offer enough support and cushioning. It is also important for runners to select the right shoe size.

These suggestions may not serve as complete back pain remedies, but they may help to protect you during your exercise sessions and reduce any back pain that you have been experiencing. If you are in pain, it could stem from a variety of causes of lower back pain, but running does not have to be one of those causes if the activity is performed correctly.
