Electricians In The Modern Age
The nature of an electrician’s work is to install and maintain electrical and power systems for homes, businesses and even small office and factories. An electrician handles the installation and wiring and control equipment of everything with power in the building. Electricians are also known to be able to repair electrical machines and equipment. Most maintenance men in factories are also skilled electricians for just that purpose of repairing and maintaining the equipment. The focus of an electrician is on construction and maintenance, sometimes they also do both. There are two main types of electricians, one that specializes in construction and then one which specializes in maintenance. Once builds and installs electronics while the other maintains and upgrades systems for companies, homes and even big factories and businesses. Electricians need to attend school and receive not just their degree but also a permit to conduct electrical work in their state. This means all electricians are held to a high standard of building codes and notational electrical codes while performing their trade. An electrician must work closely with a contractor who builds and constructs the building they are installing the wiring for. This requires electricians to be able to read blueprints. These diagrams show the locations of circuits and outlets as well as panel boards. An electrician uses a wide array of tools and equipment. Electricians also must be proficient in the use of power tools such as saws and drills. When the job is complete an electrician uses other tools which are job specific to the electrical trade. When training to become an electrician after one finishes school they must enter into an apprenticeship program. This program mixes paid on the job training with class room lessons and instruction. Electricians are usually part of unions such as International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
