Elegant Miniature Barbie Doll Accessories: Arrangement Counsel

Size: Very Important in Design

Always, always remember that there are different sizing elements in miniatures. Here are the sizing elements, there are three: Miniature scales, size of room dimensions, and comparative size. Miniature scaling refers to the fact that dolls and their furniture come in different sizing patterns. Meaning that if you have a half inch dollhouse that you need to purchase half inch dollhouse furniture. The second size element, sizing up the room, means that you are not getting furniture that will not fit in the room. Take out a ruler and measure the square inches of the room and compare it to your incoming furniture dimensions. Lastly, the final point is the size of the furniture as it compares to other pieces around it. Smaller pieces will get less attention than other pieces, and the larger pieces should be the ones that you want everyone to look at.

Designing with Linens

Once you understand that anything and everything can change, be created, or designed in your dollhouse it opens up tons of potential. It is absolutely wonderful to be able to craft and design even the minute details of a doll's house. A great example is using linens to coordinate your dollhouse design, and make things pop. If you are looking for an example, or maybe a good starting point then I would recommend the bedroom. You can coordinate the sheets, mattresses, curtains, pillows, and even a throw blanket. Next is the dinning room where you can have your own napkins, dinning room table covers, seat covers, etc. In the bathroom you have towels, floor mats, shower curtains, etc. As I stated before, it is endless, so enjoy the possibilities!

Accessories: The Little Touches

The real fun with a kit or hobby of this sort is reveling in the small details. From living room lamps to kitchen coffee mugs, these are the small details found in the accessories category. Adding these into your kit will spruce it up, add a fun touch, and cause visitors to sit and stare. In addition to design, it adds a realistic feel that says people actually live here. And don't hold back, there are so many miniatures out there that there is no reason you cannot get exactly what you want.

Styling by Era

At that moment that you sat back and decided to create your first or next dollhouse you should have had an idea of what it would look like. Most of us want the furniture, paint, wallpaper, etc, to match and flow together from one room to another. This will be your style choice or theme for your house. In dollhouse furniture, kits and accessories there are three major themes that you could choose from. The first is Victorian, a design established in the mid 1800’s that will give you old home design from cooking stoves to classic armoires. The second is Modern, which brings in all of the technology from our day from TV’s, stainless steel refrigerators, and off the wall furniture designs. Traditional furniture doesn't have a lot of pep, but the selection is great - this will fit any dollhouse and can be used at times in matching Modern or Victorian styles.
