Embedding Video From Youtube - Is It Really Worth It?
Creating your own online videos can be an expensive and time consuming process. Wouldn't it be easier if you could use a YouTube video someone else has created and leverage off of their efforts? Put simply, yes it would be, but at what cost? Embedding video from YouTube is a relatively simple process once you've gone through it a couple of times, however there are certain factors you need to be aware of before deciding to embed video into your website.

1. YouTube advertising once the video has finished. If you're lucky enough to find a video on YouTube that fits perfectly with your marketing message pay careful attention to how the video looks on your website once it's finished playing. With no word of a lie, you'll see an extensive amount of YouTube advertising showing up in the screen where your video used to be. Think carefully whether you want to encourage your visitors to click away from your website once they've finished watching the video!
2. YouTube search box. Another altercation using embedded video from YouTube can cause is the YouTube search box. It's very easy to be tempted to type in a search term and view another video immediately after watching the one embedded on your website. This is likely to cause your visitor to instantly forget your marketing message and leave your site before they've had a chance to properly view it.
3. A call to action or link to another website in the video. Lastly, it's often hard to find a video that doesn't direct viewers to visit someone else's website via a call to action or domain name showing up at the end of the video. There's no point using an embedded video if your visitor is directed away from your website once finished watching. If you decide to embed video, be careful the video you select doesn't meet this criteria.
