Dutch is not a very wide spread language and a minority language on the European stage. English is traditionally the second language of choice and most of the language professionals seek English speaking jobs throughout Europe.

One of the reasons may be because the fluency in English is increasing throughout Europe. Another reason may be because even foreign language professionals in the UK struggle to find positions, so it is down to the native speakers to fulfil the positions. There is often a bias, which is sometimes founded, to prefer native speakers.

As a result many undocumented immigrants assume their children will have a better life when looking for bilingual language jobs throughout UK and Europe, but this is often not the case.

Traditionally the sorts of jobs these types of workers get are the lower, more manual labour jobs even if they have a college or University education.

Some countries hold a bias and pre-conceptions to these types of workers. For instance when the Polish started flocking to the UK they only sourced particular types of jobs therefore the stereotype was produced, which they are finding it increasingly hard to sway.

The issue may be because English bilingual language job seekers coming to the UK with qualifications often find that they still struggle. Another reason may be because the UK has some of the best Universities in the world. The British often employ people based on which University they went to rather than the qualification obtained, no matter how good it was because of the different in entry level requirements to these Universities. For example Oxford and Cambridge are only for the very gifted and even a third from these sorts of Universities would be far more employable than a 1st class honours from a top 50 University.

Dutch language speaking professionals are welcome throughout Europe and the free reign economy and new sanctions from the EMF and EMU have created it easier for these sorts of workers to find jobs throughout Europe.

A lot of people discount language speaking jobs, but they are ideal for expats, bilingual and multilingual professionals.
