Golf is particularly popular in the Atlanta area, and the mild climate allows play most of the year. The south part of the metro area offers several excellent courses that are open for public play. Golfers of all ability levels should be able to find a course to their liking.

Lake Spivey Golf Club is a semi-private club that allows public play. The course’s championship layout is nicely wooded, with water coming into play on the back nine holes. The course was built in 1963 but was reconfigured in 2007 for a more modern layout. The 18-hole par 72 course measures 6,805 yards. The club offers a fully stocked pro shop and a driving range. The Spivey Grill serves breakfast, burgers, and sandwiches. Weekday green fees with a cart are $32.99. Weekend rates with a cart are $45.99. Weekend rates after 11am are $36.99. Reduced twilight green fees are available after 3pm. Lake Spivey Golf Club is located at 8255 Clubhouse Way in Jonesboro.

Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club in Hampton, Georgia has hosted PGA and LPGA tour events. This semi-private club allows public play. The course features Bermuda tees and fairways and Bent grass greens. Built among hardwoods, creeks, and lakes, the 18-hole par 72 course measures 7,203 yards. Monday through Friday green fees with a cart are $49. Saturday and Sunday rates including a cart are $63. Twilight rates are available.

Amenities include a driving range and a full service clubhouse with a restaurant. The club is located at 100 Crystal Lake Boulevard in Hampton.
Little Mountain Golf Course in Ellenwood, Georgia is a well maintained public course located near Panola Mountain State Park. There is an 18-hole par 72 course and an additional 10-hole course. Facilities include a pro shop, driving range, and snack bar. Contact the course at (770)981-7921 for current green fees. Little Mountain Golf Course is located at 1850 Little Mountain Road.

Rum Creek Golf Club is a 9-hole public course in Stockbridge, Georgia. The flat, easy walking course is an excellent place to learn and develop your golf game. It is also a popular course for seniors. Green fees are very reasonable. Golfers can play 9 holes for $10 and a second 9 holes for $5 more. There is also a driving range. Rum Creek Golf Club is located at 107 St. Ives Crossing.

Weekday green fees at these courses are a good value, and tee times are easier to schedule. Golf lovers are sure to enjoy a round of golf at one of these fine local courses.
