The field of information technology is an ever growing one and has many different job titles within it. When dealing with technology it is important to remember that some jobs that will exist in five years do not right now. New technology is developed and the jobs to support that technology follow. If you chose a career in IT, you will always have to keep up with current trends and new developments in the field. It is a constant learning process. But if you love technology and computers and want to earn great wages, information technology jobs are for you. Let's take a look at some common entry level IT jobs.

Help desk support is one of the most common entry level IT jobs you will come across. This type of job can consist of anything of basic customer support for a specific technology to helping other IT professionals with a few different technologies. For instance, you may land a help desk support job that has a primary focus of helping customers solve basic Window PC issues. In another case you may find yourself in a help desk support position for workers at a job site. Any time these workers have a problem, you are the one they contact to resolve their IT problem.

Another entry level information technology job is computer programmer. These jobs require that you are proficient in at least one computer language. If you are skilled at computer programming you can advance in salary pretty fast. You do not have to go to university to become a computer programmer. There are quite a few computer programmers who are self-taught. To show a potential employer your skill, be prepared to pass a programing test they will give you.

Network support is another entry level job in the information technology field. Networks are a number of computers that are connected together either through wired technology or wireless technology. This allows fast sharing of information and resources. Network engineers set up these computer networks and need help with their support. If something goes wrong, they need help troubleshooting and resolving the issue. This is what a network support tech comes in. They help with problems on the computer network. These positions can be held remotely or on-site. Remote network support technicians have the ability to gain access to the network to run tests and see what the problem is. These jobs usually require some kind of certification.
