Error -127 With Mac File Systems

HFS+ formatted storage devices (except floppy disks) are divided into one or more volumes, which are further divided into sectors. These sectors are known as logical blocks in HFS volumes. To reference and keep record of each file, file thread, directory and directory thread on volume, Mac systems use a Catalog file. This file is actually a B*-tree and thus to derive directory contents, system needs to traverse B-tree. So, if this directory tree suffers corruption due to any cause, you may need to reformat the volume and restore lost data from backup. If data backup is unavailable or damaged, you should opt for Mac Recovery applications.

Cause

It is an Input/Output error and usually signifies that file system has been affected by some internal inconsistencies. This may occur because of directory tree damage.
