Essentiality Of Glass In Picture Framing
If some bright colors have been used in the pictures or photographs then the frame can be of simple décor or it may contain some very ordinary designs. The objective of the frame should be to enhance the beauty of the photograph or picture. In no way should the frame become more attractive to the viewer than the picture itself. This is because the picture is a creation of an artist and the hard work that has gone into it to prepare the wonderful painting must be respected and honored. Another important factor that needs attention is the material that should be used for picture framing. Since historical ages, people have valued metal frames more than other kind of materials. The traditional types of frames are made of gold, silver, copper, brass as well as several other valuable metals. In today’s world, people have shifted their preferences from heavy metals that meant a lot of money to the some less expensive materials like wood, plastic, polystyrene, sea shell, some light metals like aluminum, etc. earlier frames used to be of elaborate decorations but today they contain simple patterns that suits the décor of a simple room. Decorations on the frames included gilding or plastering or at times, both were used to increase the beauty of the frame. The frames can be of any colour or any texture. The choice of the material depends on the taste and preferences of the individual who wishes to frame the beautiful painting or the photograph. The most essential part of picture framing is the glass cover on the painting. Some paintings are made of highly durable colors and in that case, there is hardly any necessity for protecting the painting with a glass covering. The picture is beautified by the frame alone. However, there may be instances when the coloring material used in the paintings has low durability. Therefore, these paintings do not last for long. Therefore, it is very important to ensure that a covering is provided on the picture and it is important to make sure that the kinds of glass being used will not tamper the painting in any way. Paintings that have used water color need to be protected on the other hand there is practically no need of picture framing oil painted pictures. The glass being used for picture framing can be coated with anti reflecting substance such that the presence of glass is not felt under some lighting conditions.
