Ethical Christian Businesses

Money is often called a double edged sword, both a blessing and a curse. It could, like fire, burn and destroy, but could also feed and warm a person up. Business is of a similar character. It can be good or evil, it all depends on the ethics of the person who is running it. Today’s world is full of all kinds of business, so how to ensure that a business one is planning to support or buy in is ethical and will not use money to harm the Lord’s cause? In simpler words, how does a Christian find and support a business that does not compromise his/her ethics?

The truth is that not each and every employee of the business should be a church goer for the business to be considered a Christian business. The business ethics and the company policy followed by the Christian business should be in line with the Golden Rule. They should be doing unto others what they want others to do unto them. There are some great places where you can find ethical Christian businesses to buy into or to support.

Do your research and find out if the business you are considering to invest in
Deals in products that go against Christian beliefs and besmirches Christ’s good name.

Donates to charities generously, which is in line with tithing
Exploits employees or treats them fairly in terms of wages, work hours and safe work conditions .Markets and manufactures products that would not make you ashamed. There are many Christian businesses and you could find them online. Do your research properly because there are many other businesses that pay lip service to Christian ideals and follow unethical practices. Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7).

You could find good businesses here:

Christian Search Engines: These are portals where you could find a lot of businesses, stores and business listings which do not contravene the faith. Spiders of these search engines crawl and index all websites that promote and ascribe to the faith.

Christian Yellow Pages: This website has rules that do not support businesses that promote homosexuality, vulgarity, racism, excessive and unrestrained violence or pornography. It is a family friendly resource that also lists non-Christian businesses provided that they promote traditional family values and do not support racism, excess violence, excess vulgarity, homosexuality or pornography.

Christian Business Portals: These portals act as Christian business directories that offer the benefit of adding free links of Christian businesses. They also check up on the businesses of those who advertise here.

Christian Products Resource Directories: Listings are provided to Christian owned businesses and Christian faith based businesses. They often work not only as directories but also as places where members can interact and express their opinion of the business.

Remember that all businesses need the support of their shareholders and effectively you become part owner the moment you buy into a business. So be proactive and withdraw your support if the business has practices you do not approve of.
