1) Look around. Carefully. Take a few hours and look exceedingly close for gaps in your home security. With only an hour of your time once a month, you can gain a world of insight into the overall security of your neighborhood. If a house nearby is robbed, yours is far more likely to be burglarized soon after. By breaking up your everyday routine, you make your house unattractive to burglars. Thieves like to know when people are going to be home, mostly so they can avoid them. If you put timers on your indoor lights or leave a car in the driveway and carpool every few days, your home will appear vacant less often. As such, it will be less likely to fall victim to a robbery. 4) Install a home security system. Home alarm systems are inexpensive these days. The cost of technology has come way down, even for “high-tech” features like motion detectors and glass break detectors.
