Experience A North Georgia Zip Line Tour
The Screaming Eagle Zip Line Canopy Tour operates the world’s largest continuous zip line canopy tour. They are located 45 minutes southwest of Atlanta at the Historic Banning Mills, a corporate retreat and conservation center near Whitesburg. The facility offers more than seven miles of zip lines, high tree traverses, and special high speed zip lines that allow riders to zip at more than 60 mph through the Snake Creek Gorge. Considered a moderate to heavy physical workout, participants must be able to climb two 65 foot towers and a 100 foot tower. There are four tour options. The Forest Tour is a 1 ½-2 hour option that includes 9 zip lines and 1 sky bridge. Minimum age is 8 years old, weighing at least 50 lbs. The price is $49 per person. The Pattern Tour is a $69, 2-3 hour tour. Minimum requirements are 10 years old and 90 lbs. The Pattern Plus Tour is a 3-4 hour tour costing $99. The Extreme Tour is a challenging 3 ½ – 5 ½ hours costing $249. The Terminator Corner Aerial Adventure can be added onto tours for an additional $29. Screaming Eagle Zip Line Canopy Tours is located at 205 Horseshoe Dam Road in Whitesburg, Georgia. Reservations are required. Lake Lanier Canopy Tours is a 45 minute drive northeast of Atlanta at the Lake Lanier Islands Resort. Four tours are offered, and participants must be at least 8 years old and weigh 50 lbs. In addition to the tour fees, participants are also required to pay the $10 entrance fee into Lake Lanier Islands. The Express Tour at $30 is a great option for those who are not sure if they are ready for more serious adventure. It includes 4 zip lines and 1 sky bridge, and lasts 30 minutes to an hour. The Legacy Tour is a 2 hour canopy tour costing $50. The new Legacy Nights Tour is a unique experience costing $75. This night time thrill is lit by moonlight, lanterns, and headlamps. The Lakeside Tour, at $100, provides beautiful views of Lake Lanier for 3-4 hours. Lake Lanier Islands Resort is located at 7000 Holiday Road in Buford, Georgia. Reservations are required. North Georgia Canopy Tours is about an hour northeast of Atlanta, at 5290 Harris Road in Lula, Georgia. Their zip lines take riders down a ravine, across ponds, over pastureland and the North Oconee River. The 3 hour Adventure Tour includes several zips, 2 sky bridges, 3 nature walks, and a rappel. Cost of the tour is $89. Video and digital photos are available for an additional fee. The $69 Sky Bridge Tour includes 9 zip lines, 2 sky bridges, and two nature walks in a 2 hour time frame. Minimum age for participant is 10 years and 70 lbs. Reservations are recommended. All of these facilities require that closed shoes such as tennis shoes be worn. Short shorts and sleeveless shirts are not recommended due to the equipment that must be worn. Long hair should be pulled back for safety. A complete safety orientation and training session is given to all participants before going out on the courses, to ensure that everyone has a safe and fun experience.
