Facebook Security Is An Important Issue For Every User

Social networking is a wonderful way to put yourself out there on the web and communicate with your friends and family. It is also a good way to find groups and other interests that you can keep track of as well and at the same time share your own information. This seems innocent enough for most, but before putting yourself out into the world unwittingly, you need to think about the levels of Facebook security available to you.

There's a simple way to understand how Facebook security works and this is by going to your Facebook login, and then navigate to Account and Privacy Settings. On the "Choose Your Privacy Settings" page, you'll find a bunch of different ways you can control what is seen by others. There are some canned settings which provide you with some of the more common sets of security and are simple to select.

If you're concerned about keeping all your information secret and not letting anyone find you or track you unless you allow them, then make sure you read up on the help settings and how you can apply the right combination of settings that will keep your information secret and hidden from others unless you explicitly allow them to your friends list. You'll most likely want to use a custom setting for this type of security and you can walk through each security feature that Facebook has to offer and decide how you want to control each aspect of your page, your information and your postings.

You can also control who sees your pictures and your profile page. Some might not be concerned and want to share all their information with the world, while others who want to keep their information secure can easily do so by adjusting their privacy settings. It all depends on your intended usage. Someone who's looking for a job might want to expose themselves as much as possible, and this is assuming that the page is clean and orderly and non-offensive.

Once you allow someone into your friends list, you can also control whether others see your postings outside your friends list. If you choose to send a friend a picture or a message, that is hidden from others unless you choose to share it.

There's never been a better time in history to get in touch with others and share your personality and your life, but in doing so one must be aware of Facebook security features which can protect you from others who might not be so innocent. Those with criminal intent are always present in the world and if you feel you need protection then you can feel secure knowing that Facebook can provide you with as much security as you feel you need.
