Fever In Children
Forehead temperature strips can be used as they are easy to use at any age. The negative sides of these are it takes the temperature of the skin rather than the accrual temperature. You should remember that fever is not a diseases it is a system that accompany many childhood illness, particular infections. If your child is less than 3 months has a temperature above 100.4 F call the doctor. For a child aged 3-6 months look out for temperatures above 101 F. For a child aged 6 months and above look out for temperatures above 103 F. Remember not to panic and remember your doctor will understand your concern. For older children the actual temperature is not the most important when it comes to judging whether they need the doctor’s attention. How the child is acting is what you should be looking out for, is your child irritable, confused, lethargic? Have they any difficulty breathing? Are they taking fluids? If your child fever does not pass over 48 hours contact your doctor. Also remember if your child has health other problems like heart condition, cancer or immune system problems, contact your doctor.
