Finding A List Of Good Movies For Private Consumption

If one suddenly develops a fetish to create a private collection of movies, the normal mode of operation is to conduct some research to discover a list of good movies. However, the down side to such a move is that the list is based on the tastes of others. Although they try to cover all the bases, it still remains someone else’s handiwork. To add a dash of complexity to the whole matter, good does not necessarily equate to favorites. Perhaps one’s tastes greatly leans towards musical westerns. As the slice of population joining one’s camp is probably a precious minority, the chances of finding related storylines making the A list is possibly bleak.

Since movies are made according to genre, a list exists for each of these categories. In deciding what is best to suit the taste of one’s private collection of movies, one can plough through the various lists and risk losing some level of sanity midpoint. Alternatively, one can rely on guidelines provided by seasoned viewers and reviewers who are ever ready with their movie compass. Gender differences can often swing a vote in the opposite direction as action thriller and romance are akin to oil and water. Perhaps finding some middle ground may help in picking movies to satisfy opposing tastes.

To cater to genre demands, the movie pile continues to grow courtesy of film makers, aspiring, top dog and has-been. Although it is considerably difficult to break the glass ceiling of mediocre to box office hit, the glimmer of hope is never extinguished as each professional in his own field continues to strive to fill his or her display shelf with a trophy of celebration. Those fortunate to lead the pack have the works of their hands featured in the list of good movies and proudly add to their collection of Emmys, Oscars and Golden Globes.
