You also have to include a waste disposal unit to keep the place clean and away from serious health conditions.

If doable, find a shelter that will have ample space for an indoor garden where you can grow therapeutic plants like vegetables and fruits so that you may be able to eat fresh foods once in a while even after the catastrophe. Apart from being able to build a shelter, you should also find time to train for survival training as well as land cultivation and hunting food.
