Fine Small Accessories: Organizational Clues

Flooring, Changing the Base of your House

Flooring is a very interesting topic because no one really thinks to change it, and yet those that do always turn out more amazing than before. Flooring is often overlooked because it is the base, but that only means that it is really the foundation for your furniture and design choices. Just as with new flooring in any house, new flooring in a dollhouse will increase the value and appeal. Carpet, linoleum, tile, stone, and hard wood are the most popular choices in flooring options. Carpet is a really fun choice, because it makes the kit seem like a miniature version of your house. The next set of flooring options that are popular are tile, and linoleum - a great touch for a smooth surface and an interesting color. The hardest type of flooring to add is a stone or hard wood option, but in the end these are the best from a designing standpoint.

Designing the Outside of Your Dollhouse Kit

Once you have completed your inside design, it is time to look again at the exterior design and some ways to make it look better. The first thing that everybody looks at is the paint and the shingles. When you are setting up your dollhouse apply a good three coats of good craft paint to your dollhouse. The shingles should be died and applied carefully using a ruler to assure that the lines are straight. In addition to the paint and shingles a couple of accessories like a barbeque or bird house will add to the attractiveness. You can even have some small flower pots to place in the window seals. And let us not forget the biggest advantage to designing the outside: the lights. Lights on exterior are commonly found on the porch, but you can place them pretty much wherever you would like to.

Adding Little Touches to your Kit

This hobby is about the little details. These small details can be anything from small toothbrushes in the bathroom, to magazines for the bedroom bookcase. Not only will these little trinkets add a flare to your doll's house, but it will make your friend's dolls jealous. But not only will it add that creative touch, it makes it look more realistic. And don't hold back, there are so many miniatures out there that there is no reason you cannot get exactly what you want.

Creating Colors that Work in your Environment

Ever since we picked up our first box of crayons we have desired to match, mix, and create – It is no different when you have fabric, furniture, and room color choices. Everyone that has gone to high school art or taken any basic art school knows a little bit about the color wheel. The basis of the wheel is that some colors are similar to one another, and others have contrast. Opposing colors are the most different and offer attractiveness to the eye called – contrast, colors touching each other are the most similar and can be accent colors that heighten, but don’t distract from the feel. As a first step into the designing realm for yourself, I recommend that you defiantly read up on the color coordination material that is on the internet or any good book, as it will really help your style.
