Fishing Keeps Kids Off Of Drugs

I'm sure any parent who reads this article will love reading this and will hopefully implement these ideas into their kid's lives. I was introduced to fishing when I was very young. I can still remember cruising down to the local lake on a Saturday with my dad and older sister. We would toss out little shrimp and catch catfish or small white bass. Also during the spring months when the carp were spawning close to the shore we'd go to the same lake with our Ruger .22s and do our part to thin out the carp population.

From the very first time I went fishing and hunting I was hooked. It was an instant and lifelong addiction. I still sit back and think fondly about those fishing trips down to local lake and other fishing trips across my home state.

I'd be willing to bet six figures that the number one reason I never got involved in drugs or anything illegal growing up was because I was introduced to fishing and hunting at a young age. Sure I did mischievous things that all boys do but nothing that'd land me in jail. I was way too busy dreaming about my next fishing or hunting trip to worry about doing drugs and all my money went to those two hobbies.

I can't thank my father enough for having a love for the outdoors and introducing it to me and sharing it with me when I was young.

Something as simple as taking your kids outdoors and instilling a love for fishing and hunting can lead them down a safe path that will keep them out trouble for their entire lives.

Fishing and hunting becomes a burning passion that will never leave their hearts or minds.

Spring is coming so it's time to grab your fishing poles and rifles and go enjoy America's beautiful outdoors.
