Five Key Elements Of Content Writing

Content Writing is often misinterpreted to be any piece of writing without any rhyme or reason. Until and unless there is no language structure, usage of appropriate grammar, facts and opinion and the most important factor being legitimate statistics, a piece of writing cannot be merely labeled as creative content. A blog or an article sans of all the factors mentioned above is in harsh words known as filthy hogwash. So being a mid-card content writer myself and all those maxims passed onto me by my mentor, I give you five key elements which form the backbone of something which can be called content.

1) Keeping things simple: Simplicity is the hallmark of good content. A seasoned content writer will never try to ramble about his experience and expertise and language skills in whatever he/she writes. The piece of writing would be kept simple and understandable so that it cuts across all age groups, gender, race and religion. Simplicity is what works wit the readers. Keep it simple and you will see your writings being appreciated.

2) Good grammar and sentence construction: Without proper grammar, writing in English would seem as if it is written in Persian. Awful grammar is a very big turn off and so are sentences where the subject, object noun and verb are written in a cluttered manner. Getting these two things wrong signifies that a writer is poor in the language and requires a lot of refurbishment. Those who are well read would not even feel like giving it a glance. Use proper grammar and then the piece of writing will be given consideration.

3) Edit and Re-edit: Never be over confident about whatever you have written. Nothing is flawless. Even the best of writers falter at times. A piece of writing does not become a masterpiece at the first attempt itself. Read it once you finish writing it so that all the mistakes can be found and edited. Give it a second reading if you fell skeptical after the first one. There might be some minor faults which go unnoticed. The second attempt gives you the chance of correcting them.

4) Never be over expressive: Exuberance often lets a writer down. Never let excessive enthusiasm consume you. If Sachin Tendulkar scores his 42nd one-day international hundred, it does not mean that you start describing his career. Take all the facts and figures into account and be specific. An overload of emotions and expression along with a highly opinionated stance depict the article in negative light. So make sure expressions are limited.

5) Never deviate from the topic: Divergence leads to the integrity of a writer being questioned. Do not let that happen. Be defined. Accuracy should be given priority. If NASA launches a satellite into space, there is no need to mention about the developments taking place inside ISRO. Being precise shows that the writer means business and will not compromise on the precision of the content. This results in the writer gaining a lot of reliability and acclaim. Make sure that the piece of writing is accurate from all corners.
