Five New Ways To Wedding Cake Style

The wedding cake, being a centerpiece in many weddings, calls for elegancy, creativity and style when preparing. A lot of people are ready to spend huge amounts of money so as to get a cake that reflects their taste and preference. There are various ways that can be used to customize wedding cakes and they are summarized into the five points below.

Shapes and sizes

The cake can take numerous shapes and sizes depending on the couple’s needs. Traditionally, wedding cakes are round in shape, white or light yellow in color with some icing on them. They vary in sizes and are in most cases arranged in tiers. However, in the recent past people’s tastes and preferences have really changed and many have come up with new and modern shapes e.g. squired, rectangle and other customized cake shapes. As a result, cakes have been made in the shape of a heart, a guitar, sports cars, favorite animals and even others taking a person’s shape of the head and shoulders. Cakes made in different sizes are easy to tier and their outcome is always breathtaking.

Color and Texture

The color of the cake will largely depend on the couple’s choose of color scheme for their wedding. It looks good when the color of the cake blends with others without being conflicting to the eye. Try bright and visible colors that are more pronounced. The texture should also be creative and if it is rough, ensure that the patterns formed are regular.

Text on cake

A large number of people would like to express their ideas or feeling on certain matters or people on their wedding cake. This is usually done by use of text written on the top or side of the cake. Try out calligraphy handwriting as it eludes style and creativity. The message that the text conveys also varies from one person to another. Others write their spouse’s names, date of marriage, others may want to quote a verse, some piece of poetry or lyrics from a favorite song. Calligraphy can be done by an experienced chef or an artist.

Flavors and Icing

There are a number of flavors available for wedding cakes. Bakers have come up with exotic mixtures of mouthwatering aromatic flavors which add a tasty finish to the cake. Common flavors include almond, chocolate and various fruit flavors. You can also try other flavors from different liquors, beverages and spices. Be sure to cater for all your guests’ different tastes though. The icing is often use in decorating the cake. Butter cream has been in use in many regions because it is easy to make and apply. It’s also the icing which determines the color and texture of the cake.

Toppers

The best thing to use when topping your cake is flowers. Either fresh or plastic, flowers are bound to crown the look of the cake by enhancing its attractiveness. Try roses by placing them in spaces between different tiers. You can also sprinkle petals or flowers heads around the cake. Remember that colors of flowers should also be within the main color scheme.
