Space: Viewing distance
First check your room space if you have considerable amount of area to put your flat screen TV. Yes, it is wall mounted and will not take up extra space but the distance of your wall to your lounge or bed is also very important. If your room is not that enormous, a massive flat screen will not be best. Confirm the sounds and the brightness if it overpowers the entire room.

Plasma or LCD?
LCD’s can be viewed in any sizes; small or large screens. The most common form is the 37 inch screen. There are also illumination and angle requirement per type that you should also care about. Generally, plasma tvs have 160 degree viewing angle. The screening angle for LCD TVs then again is only 120 degrees. That is why when you put the LCD TV screen in a certain angle, the picture quality may not be as good.

Sounds, Tuners and Connections
Expediently all LCDs now have both built-in NTSC and ATSC Tuners. ATSC Tuner is needed to receive over-the-air TV broadcast signals following June 12, 2009. There are also some LCD’s that is what is known as QAM tuner which is required to receive unscrambled HD-Cable programming even without a cable box.

Also, choose a flat screen TV unit with at least one HDMI source for the connection HD devices.

Resolution
If you are a person who is especially particular about the screen and picture resolution, then pixel number should be one of your highest concerns. Per LCD flat screen there is already a fixed number of pixels or native pixel count. The lowest amount number of pixel count is 1280x720 (720p) or 1366x768 (768p) which is what you should be looking for. The letter p that you can view after the number connotes to progressive scanning features of the TV. These days, larger LCD TV units have 1280x720 (720p) or 1366x768 (768p) native pixel resolution.

After considering these factors, see if the pricing fits your budget. If the performance, resolution, brand and functionality of your chosen LCD or plasma screen are A-OK with you, then the price that comes with it should not be a problem. And besides, there are brands now that are cheap but proven to be of high quality. Proposal from friends and families including online reviews and ratings shouldn’t also be dismissed.
