Just like you go to the Doctor for a checkup, you need to get a copy of your credit history report so that you can give it a checkup. Look for anything on your report that may not be accurate or should not be there. The doctor will help you clean up anything that they find wrong with you, and you should clean up anything wrong on your credit report. Disputing items that are not accurate is the best way to clean up your credit report. Once you have an accurate credit report you will need to exercise your credit. Exercising your credit means that you have to use it (properly) and make sure that it is working right for you. You do not want to overdo using your muscles and you don’t want to overdo using your credit. Remember to keep your debt below 30% of your available credit. If you are using more than 30%, then reduce your debt as quickly as possible. By reducing your debt, you will help your credit score. Major purchases such as a car or a home require you to work your credit muscle much harder. You don’t want to make any major purchases back to back and you don’t want to apply for a bunch of credit suddenly. This will also reduce your credit score and makes creditors think that you are not managing your credit properly. Getting your credit under control and accurate will help you in many ways. You might apply for a new job and find out that they need to run a credit report on you. If your credit is accurate and under control, you will be more likely to get a job offer than someone who has credit problems. If you review your credit and find that you have quite a few problems that need to be disputed, then take the time to find a professional to help you dispute them. There are legitimate Credit Repair Companies that can literally do all the leg-work for you. You tell them what is wrong on your report and they dispute them in the best manner. Each credit bureau works differently and a good credit repair company can dispute in the best manner for each of them.
