Flip Disc Game Review
Starting the game, the first thing that will create an impression would be its unusual game board design. The board is composed of five concentric circles, each able to rotate either clockwise or counter-clockwise depending on your keyboard actions or mouse button clicks. You can switch on either using the mouse buttons or the keyboard arrow keys depending on what controls are more adept to your gaming style. Gems are consistently coming out of eight holes located around the circular board. The mechanics of Flip Disc is for you to line up five gems of the same color using all the circular discs. When successful, the matched line of gems will be swallowed up by the center of the board, and you then gain points. For every ten lines, you move to the next level where gems will be coming in faster and with more colors to consider. Just avoid filling the board with gems and you’ll successfully move on to the next level. The game spans up to ten levels only too, but even though it’s quite a short game, there’s really no way that you can reach level ten with just a few tries. I don’t even think that level ten is reachable considering the game’s difficulty, but I’ll just leave it to you to prove me wrong. Keeping up with the increasing speed of the gems and the occasional presence of an unmatchable black gem will definitely get you trapped in later levels. Besides that, my experience with the controls is that it’s awkward and unresponsive. It takes a little bit of time to get used to rotating the discs using keyboard arrow keys, so I’ll suggest using the mouse functions to play. However, mouse clicks are oftentimes late in response, so I guess there’s still a downside with using this alternative.
