Flirting 101

Flirting is fun, fabulous, a great way to give out signals of interest, and even used for pretend. What would our dating lives be without flirting? Flirting is a part of our everyday lives. Flirting can be sexy, good and innocent bringing people together, but it can be harmful when used to threaten an already existing relationship. So, is flirting natural? For some it is, but for others it seems to be a hopeless art.

Have you ever been called a flirt? If so, you probably are well aware and proud of this skill. People like it when others flirt with them. Flirting gives people attention. In the right setting, it can be a powerful too. In the wrong situation, it could land you in trouble. There is a world of difference between flirting and unwanted sexual advances, so be sure to know which category your flirting is falling in to.

However, some men still don’t get it. So let’s take a closer look at some of the most common forms of flirting.

Eye Contact.

This can be a wink in your direction, a gaze that is held longer than a casual glance, an arched eyebrow combined with the eye contact, and an eye flutter.
Hair and Mouth.

She’s playing with her hair – twisting it around her fingers or maybe even stroking yours! Smiling, smiling, and smiling some more. Her dentist is proud. Biting her lower lip, puckering her lips in a simulated kiss, actually any form of touch of the lips or teeth with tongue is a positive sign of attraction.

Body Movement

Ok, you’re at the bar and she’s thrusting her chest or breasts outwards whilst holding your gaze. Also a biggie is mirroring, which is what it sounds like, the copying of your posture or gestures. If she’s on the dance floor and holding your gaze whilst getting her groove on. Go groove with her.
Anytime she uses a posture with legs crossed towards you or leaning in towards you whilst holding your gaze. It’s often said this is a sign of being comfortable. If a women is secure enough to have her legs or body facing your direction, this is a great sign – even better? Her legs are open. Also, look out for display of flesh of arm or thigh.

Touching

Ok, if she’s touching you, chances are good, she’s interested. This sign isn’t rocket science. Sure, some people are just the ‘touchy feely’ type, but most women are more reserved than that. She may pretend to brush or pick something off your shirt, even if nothing is there or get in a situation where they can brush against your body. They may want to touch you and will reach out to do so with some excuse. Other signs, she may offer to place food in your mouth as if feeding you or play with their hands and then with yours.

Speak to me

Ok, all this other stuff is great, but you really have to pay attention to her tone and speed of conversation. Does it mirror your own? Is she talking about the things that you are talking about? Does it appear there is a sincere interest in what you are saying?

Laughing and lots of it! This one is huge. If you are making her laugh, even with ridiculous and cliché jokes, you’re on the right path. Is she using questioning tones? Is she singling you out in a larger group? On the flip side of this, a shy and subtle tone, or playing coy, is also a good clue she’s interested.

As you can see, flirting is an art more than a science. Flirting is fun and even more fun when you are receptive to it and understand what is happening to you. So pay attention! Flirting can be the gateway to getting to know that person you’re interested in just a bit more. Flirting could be the key to having the one your interested in notice you. The best flirtatious moments will normally happen by surprise, but they are moments that you will remember for a lifetime.
