Flying In To Malaga Airport From Spain
Catching a flight from Barcelona or Santiago de Compostela in the north down to Malaga on the south coast couldn't be easier and with such a short flight time of around 1 hour and 20 minutes from both airports, it is easy to see why many people travel down to Malaga, especially to enjoy some sunshine and get away from what can sometimes be a very wet north, although this is more so the case with Santiago de Compostela and the lush green region of Galicia. Malaga is also very popular with people from Madrid or Madrileņos as they are commonly known. With a flight time of just 40 to 50 minutes Malaga can be a welcome retreat from the usual cold temperatures that Madrid can experience in winter. Not to mention the large number of keen golfers based in Madrid that come to enjoy the numerous golf courses on offer on the Costa Del golf. When you fly into Malaga Airport on an internal domestic flight you do not have to worry about going through passport control or waiting in any queues that this can sometimes cause. Once you have exited the aircraft you can go straight through to the baggage reclaim area to collect your luggage or head directly for the exit if you are only travelling with hand luggage. Whether you have landed at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 you will find the car hire desks immediately after the baggage reclaim areas and before entering the arrivals hall. Terminal 1 has the corresponding car hire desks located on your left just before entering the small arrivals hall. Terminal 2 Has large car rental signs in the baggage reclaim hall that direct you down a ramp where all the corresponding desks are based. If you have not hired a car and are either meeting someone, require a taxi, getting the bus or train then head directly out into the arrivals hall. All taxis and bus stops are located immediately outside the terminal buildings and the train station is accessed from level 1, through the car park and across a footbridge. If you are getting the train then you will need to go up 1 floor from the arrivals hall in Terminal 2 which will bring you out into the departures hall on level 1. From here simply exit the terminal building and turn right, follow the signs for the train station which will lead you a little further down the road before making you cross over to go through the car park where the footbridge is located. To access the train station from Terminal 1, exit the terminal from the arrivals hall, cross over the open air car park and the terminal exit road to get the lift up to level 1. This will bring you out into the covered car park where the footbridge to the train station is located. If you are planning on getting something to eat or drink when you have arrived at Malaga Airport or before your departure from Malaga. You should consider getting a bite to eat and a drink at the cafe bar that is located next to the train station. This is of course more convenient if you happen to be travelling by train to or from Malaga airport. From the terminal buildings the cafe bar is a 5 minute walk but you may find that it is worth your while, especially if you are a family of 4 or more. The prices for food & drink within the terminal buildings at Malaga airport are very expensive. A decent sandwich and drink will set you back around 5 euros at the cafe bar next to the station whereas you can expect to pay at least 10 euros for the same at the airport.
