Foods That Burn Fat
So-called fat burners are foods which use more calories in digestion than they provide, and in so doing, give a boost to your metabolism. However, they are not a magic cure for overweight and should be used sensibly, that is, as part of a balanced diet. If you want to use fat burning foods to help yourself achieve your ideal weight, you must be very careful. If you take extreme measures, your diet simply becomes a fad, you'll get sick of it and give up, or worse, you'll stay on it and make yourself ill, through lack of adequate nutrition. Adding healthy food to your diet is a great step towards weight loss and foods which burn fat should be included. Many of the so-called fat burning foods have been given a bad name because they became popular as part of really strict diets, which suggested eating large quantities of one food, but leaving out some important nutrients. Also these diets often had so few calories per day that they were actually dangerous. However, recent research has concluded that some of the foods which were the mainstay of fad diets, are actually useful, increasing metabolism, when eaten in along with other healthy foods and especially when an exercise programme is also part of your routine. Do you remember the grapefruit diet? This is one example of a food which has now been proved to be beneficial. The effects of grapefruit were researched at the Scripps Clinic in San Diego California, where dieters were asked to eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice before each meal. After 12 weeks, they experienced an average weight loss of about 3.5 lbs. And some lost a lot more, as much as 10 lbs. The control group, who did not have any grapefruit, lost an average of only half a pound. Experts think that grapefruit lowers insulin levels in the blood, and this keeps hunger at bay. What are the main foods which are considered to be fat burning? Fruit and vegetables feature highly on the list, which probably doesn't surprise you - you weren't expecting to see cream cakes and croissants were you? Amongst the vegetables which could speed up metabolism are: carrots, green cabbage, broccoli, celery, leeks and asparagus. Fruits which are considered fat burning include apples, blackberries, blueberries, oranges, and peaches. Spices are also fat burners and can be used to add flavour to meals, which will make your diet a lot more interesting. Garlic is known to break down fat deposits and since it is also a great antiseptic and has antibiotic qualities, it is a good addition to any diet. Chili and cayenne peppers are also said to burn fat. Lean protein is an important fat burner and is found in turkey, chicken, lean meat and fish. It is essential that you eat a balanced diet, rather than eating large quantities of one type of food, just because it has a reputation as something which burns fat. It isn't difficult to come up with a healthy diet based on this information. This will help you to burn fat safely. You could choose to drink grapefruit juice before meals, and then eat a combination of lean protein and a variety of green vegetables, with a moderate amount of good quality carbohydrate, examples being sweet potato or brown rice. If you like your food to taste more interesting you can add spices and if you snack on fruit, you can improve your chances of losing weight without resorting to fads involving over-consumption of foods that burn fat. © Waller Jamison 2007 Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com Get the best fat-burning strategies now.
