The current Ford Focus comes with a choice of six engines, with the best engine being the 1.8 turbo diesel and the worst being the 1.4 petrol engine, which is particularly sluggish.
Since the last update of the Focus, Ford has vastly improved the interior of the fleet. The layout of the cabin is described as very good with adequate head and leg room for the front and rear passengers.
The driving position of the Focus has been complimented as the wheel and gear stick are within easy reach and the steering is effortless. The light steering makes driving around town and parking ideal. In rural conditions the mpg varies between 25 – 55 mpg depending on the conditions.
The economy of the Focus is another plus point, all the diesel engine are very economical and the petrol engines are surprisingly light on fuel consumption in comparison to other models on the market. This makes the Focus ideal for ford contract hire and car leasing.
In terms of safety, Ford has a good reputation of producing reliable and safe cars. This trend continues with the Focus. Both driver and passenger airbags come as standard on the Focus and has preformed well in both NCAP crash test and anti theft tests.
However, depreciation remains an issue with the Focus. In recent surveys it was shown that over 20% of the cars value was wiped off within the first month of ownership of the car.
