Four Easy Ways To Publish An Ezine
An Ezine is simply an online or emailed newsletter. They can be quick and easy to write and of course Ezines have the great advantage of being nearly free to produce. I say nearly free because the one Ezine question you will need to answer is how to publish it and there are some free, nearly free and paid options to choose from. A completely free way to publish an Ezine The most basic way to publish an Ezine is to use your email client to send out your newsletter. If you use MS Outlook then you could simply use the Blind Copy (known as BCC) to enter readers email addresses. The advantage is that it is completely free. The disadvantage is that there is a physical limit to the number of emails you can put in the BCC field. In short it is not a very elegant way of publishing your Ezine. Still free but a more sophisticated way to Publish an Ezine Similar to the method above, you can use your regular email program and mailmerge the email address in the TO field. While you are using mailmerge you could then also merge the first name into your Ezine. Personalization is a really important part of communication and will dramatically improve your Ezine. TIP: Use the help function in Outlook or your mailing program and you will quickly discover how you can mailmerge from your mailing program. The disadvantage of both the approaches we have discussed so far is that you will be manually managing your subscribers by adding and removing them from your list. Use a piece of software to manage the publishing of your Ezine Emailing out from Outlook is fine, but that is really a program designed for individual emails and it is stretching it a bit to do mass mailings. So using a dedicated piece of mailing software can provide a better Ezine publishing solution. There are many alternatives available, but typically they allow you to maintain a list of Ezine subscribers either directly within the software or as a separate spreadsheet. Some Ezine Publishing programs also allow you to manage your subscriber list and in particular take care of those Ezine bouncers and Ezine unsubscribes more efficiently. The drawback of all the methods discussed to date is that you will be mailing out from your own account meaning that you will have to handle the relationship with your ISP which becomes more critical the larger your list gets. Some place limitations on the number of Ezine messages you can send on any one day. Others will have something to say if you are accused of spamming. Never spam by the way and always use confirmed opt-in as the basis for subscribing to your Ezine list. Use a third-party hosted system to Publish An Ezine In my experience this is definitely a great solution. It deals with all the problems. Making it easy to personalize your Ezine and work with your subscribers to provide simple Ezine subscribe/unsubscribe options. There are a large number of different services available. Some describe themselves as newsletter or Ezine publishing software, while others call themselves autoresponders. All round this is the most professional approach, but the option which is best for you is likely to be the one fits with your Ezine Publishing objectives at this moment in time.
