Four Fresh Tips To Incorporate Lessons About Love In Formal Classroom

Assume a world with no teachers. Do you think the world will see committed scientists, valiant presidents, prudent economists, caring doctors and passionate sports players with no educators to indoctrinate them? It is bewildering. Notice that the different professions mentioned have individual qualities and adjectives associated with them - committed is the term to describe scientists, valiant for presidents, prudent for economists, caring for doctors and passionate for sports players. It is because schools are not just the training ground for people to acquire successful jobs and careers. Schools are where values and truths are instilled to students. Madelaine L'Engle, an illustrous writer has left some distinct words about rearing. She said, “Truth is eternal. Knowledge is changeable. It is disastrous to confuse them”. L’Engle’s words must be shared to all teachers and educators so that these two principles will not be interchanged.

When we talk about knowledge, these are topics and subjects taught to students. They can be the basic Mathematics, English and science or the more complex areas of study like medicine, architecture and design. Truths on the other hand are principles or incontestable facts. Examples of truths are life, death and love. For easy discussion, let us choose love as the topic for truth and how it can be added to traditional lessons in classroom discussions.

Let The Kids Explore
Before adding truths in ordinary lessons, assess the level of the understanding of the students. Never compel a child to learn. It is logical that a little child will not appreciate fully complex matters like love if explained in convoluted ways. If teaching about the environment and nature, let the children analyze their world. Go on a field trip so that they can grasp more the loveliness around them. Let the children quantify and describe the different things around them like the animals, plants and greenery. Tell the child that nature is part of the ecosystem and we need to care for them. Explain the association of love with nurturing and caring.

Show And Tell
To encourage children to disclose what they have and what they know, show and tell activities are greatly encouraged. Also, this activity is enriching the communication skills of kids. In the next show and tell, ask the kids to bring any living thing like a fine-looking flower or a pet fish. Ask the child how they can show their love and care for these animals. By feeding their pets and watering the plants they are showing their love and feelings for these living creatures.

Love Is Unconditional
In the next math class, don’t just end the lesson with home works and problem solving activities. Teach the children that love is like mathematics. It is so basic yet circumstances may arise that love can get so intricate. There are many kinds of love and they are described differently. Love can be like fraction - either you give half of yourself or your whole self. But the greatest kind of love is the love that is unconditional. No limitations and no boundaries. Unconditional love does not count records of wrongs. One loves because he loves, not because there is a sum to be paid.

Love Is Being Visionary
Art classes are very arousing for kids. Teach kids to be creative when showing their love to their parents. They can give special cards even with no occasions. They can tell their parents how much they love them in the most visionary way. Have them share their ideas.
